Warm
Warm Welcome spaces are heated and able to provide basic refreshments such as tea/coffee.
Welcoming
Warm Welcome spaces are inclusive, non-judgmental spaces where everyone can expect a warm welcome from staff and volunteers.
Free
Warm Welcome spaces will be free to enter. There's lots of free activities that you can join in, like keeping fit or crafting. And many spaces have free wifi and computers you can use.
Safe
Every organisation setting up a Warm Welcome space will have a safeguarding policy. Organisations make basic signposting information available to people who need further support.
Warm Welcome Spaces are places of belonging, where new friendships are forged, and where people feel valued. The difference Warm Welcome Spaces bring to communities is remarkable; they bring connection, friendship, and human warmth, helping people feel less isolated and boosting wellbeing.
We have a growing network of 4,000 Warm Welcome Spaces of every shape and size: community centres, libraries, churches, community cafes, arts centres, local businesses, and schools. Every Warm Space is unique and offers different kinds of support and activities. We have a bold ambition to enable a more deeply connected society where we all have free access to welcoming community spaces.
Over 14.4 million people live in poverty in the UK and 7% of people experience chronic loneliness.
Through the collective power of local spaces, Warm Welcome hosted 2 million+ individual visits, while being supported by more than 10,000 volunteers every week.
84% of people said coming to a Warm Welcome Space has helped them feel a stronger sense of belonging to their community.
