London-based Nourish Hub is a colourful community food hub that brings people together through food, learning and connection. It’s hard to believe that this vibrant space was once five shops. Nourish Hub provides a three-course meal for the community and serves up to 200 meals every day. Each meal served at the community cafe is vegan and vegetarian and suitable for all plant-based diets.

It is an intergenerational space, with a big table layout, where some guests choose to stay and co-work. During school holidays, they host children’s clubs filled with food quizzes, learning, and fun. The Nourish Hub also offers quarterly community suppers, with table service for those who work and can’t attend weekday lunches.
“Spaces like this are great for your health, heart and mind." - Nourish Hub guest.
Their Meals-and-a-Chat project delivers freshly cooked meals for every day of the week to elderly and vulnerable residents, a safeguarding check-in, and companionship. The space has been created by and for the community, from the mural designed by children on the ceiling to the open nature of the space so that guests can see the chefs and volunteers preparing the cooked meals. The building is step free and is fully accessible, reflecting the Hub’s commitment to inclusivity from the ground up.
“Our projects wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic volunteers. We are a very small team, so volunteers enable our services to reach more residents and make a greater impact in the borough!” - Helen, Education and Events Coordinator
Nourish Hub works with the Advocacy Project, supporting adults with learning difficulties, to provide and maintain the yellow planters at the front of the building. The volunteers filled the planters with fresh herbs and beautiful ornamental plants that are used in the kitchen to add flavour and nutrition to the meals and in the Hub as decorations.

One of the standout projects is NourishED, the five-week free cookery course. Each week participants make two recipes out of edible surplus food, trying new ingredients, learn key nutrition knowledge, and can take home everything. This goes beyond cooking; it is about building confidence and developing new skills. Many guests who have been part of the cookery course now volunteer in the kitchen and serve the meals to the guests. One guest went on to get a culinary degree and now works in a restaurant. You can get a taste of the meals and recipes in their Community Cookbook!

“They have included me and accepted me as I am. They’ve seen me on my up and down days, but I always leave with a smile.” - Kayliegh, Nourish Hub Volunteer
Nourish Hub recently celebrated their third anniversary with a community breakfast with the community, funders, and partners. They shared their brilliant achievements and supported over 10,000 people with meals, connection, and education classes.
“Spaces like this bring communities together.” - Nourish Hub Guest
